Access Statement for Abbey Lodge
Introduction
We aim to cater for the needs of all who visit Abbey Lodge. We have 10 guest bedrooms. We have no bedrooms on the ground floor. Access to the 1st floor landing is gained by a flight of 15 stairs to the first 2 bedrooms, a further flight of 4 stairs to the next 3 bedrooms. To gain access to the second floor of the building there is another 13 stairs to gain access to the next 2 bedrooms with additional 4 stairs to the next 3 bedrooms
Pre-Arrival
- There are a number of local taxi services that have accessible taxis if required. We can supply contact numbers so that you may make a booking if required. Brochures and menus can be provided in large print if necessary.

• Please advise us of your anticipated arrival time so that we can be sure we are here to welcome you. We have a small garden to the front of the property with 2 steps leading up to the mail entrance we also have a secure car park (the gates are kept locked) at the rear, with room for up to 4 cars. We are able to assist guests with luggage if this is required
Main Entrance & Reception
• The front porch entrance has a series of 2 steps (av. ht. 14cm.) leading up to the front door. Front door is always locked but we do have a bell press located on both the main door and internal door. On arrival, guests are required to complete our registration form and are then shown to their rooms and our facilities are explained. Seating is provided in our bar area
Public Areas - General (Internal)
• Our dining room is located on the ground floor and is fitted with a short piled fitted carpet. The covering on the stairs and upstairs corridors is short-pile fitted carpet. The bar area is also fitted with a short piled carpet. We have no bedrooms on the ground floor. Public Areas - WC
• There is a public WC located on the ground floor. All rooms are en-suite
Restaurant / Dining Room, Bar & Lounges, Take Away & Cafe
- Breakfast & evening meal is served in our Dining Room on the ground floor and is accessed from our Reception Hall. The entry is level and the door width is 78cm. There are 5 tables each seating 4 people. The tables are 110cm long x 69cm wide, they are 74cm high. Chairs are without arms. Menus may be provided in larger print by prior arrangement. Soft background music is played during breakfast & evening meal, & candles on each table at evening meal.

Shop
• The nearest shopping facility is the Tesco Local within a 5 min walking distance. A wide range of shops are available on Central Drive, a walk of 5-10 mins. The town centre is a 15-20 min comfortable walking distance

Outdoor Facilities
• Stanley Park is a small taxi ride away about 1 mile away, usually takes around 20 minutes on foot. The pleasure beach is 2 miles away with trams available from the promenade (15 min walking distance)
Conference & Meeting Rooms, Banqueting, Clubs, Entertainment
• The Locco Club is situated in Ribble Rd, 5 mins walking distance, with ramp access for wheel chair users. live entertainment most weekends & bingo, although this is on the second floor of the building with no lift access.
Bedrooms
• There is central heating throughout the house. The temperature of each guest bedroom is controlled by thermostatic controls on the radiators. The beds are made with blankets and bed spreads, thickness of blankets is adjusted to suit the time of year. Each bedroom has a ˜hospitality tray with tea, coffee, and a selection of biscuits. In each room there is a hair dryer, ironing board and iron, a clock radio and a TV with remote control. Each room has storage space which usually consists of a wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside cabinet. Every shower has shower gel dispensers and also a basket of toiletries. All rooms have a table and two comfy chairs.

• All rooms are en-suite, although bathrooms are comfortable and adequate, bathrooms are small with no additional railings for disabled use.
Grounds and Gardens
• to the front of the property we have a small walled garden paved with block paving. There is planted pots for decoration and wooden seating with tables for ease of use
Additional Information
- We are totally non-smoking.
- We are able to use the front and doors should evacuation be necessary. The fire alarm rings continuously if evacuation is needed. If you need assistance in this kind of emergency (e.g. hearing impairment) please let us know on arrival and we will ensure that you are evacuated safely.
- There is a folder in each guest bedroom which gives tourist information about Blackpool and the surrounding area.
